We are on the hunt for hardworking, kind, and energetic individuals for the 2024 flower season! Our farm loves growing beautiful flowers and people. Farming is by far the hardest work I have ever done but also the most rewarding. I strive to create a positive work environment with work-life balance as a top priority for myself and my employees. We are on the hunt for more like minded, hardworking and self-aware individuals who can contribute your unique skills to our team. I can’t wait to chat with you.

Title: Field Assistants

Objective: We are looking for hard-working team members with a positive attitude and a love for the outdoors. We are hiring for part-time field assistant positions 10-24 hrs per week. April - November. Our field production crew is an integral part of our day-to-day activities on the farm. Field assistants are responsible for all the growing, maintenance, and harvesting of the flowers sold on our farm.

Field Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Planting quickly and efficiently in both the field and the greenhouse. This task requires long periods of time bent over or in a crouched position.

  • Cultivation of beds. This requires hand weeding, hoeing with hand tools, or mechanical cultivation.

  • Preparing beds, which includes but is not limited to laying landscape fabric, spreading compost, laying irrigation lines, installing t-posts, and support netting.

  • Harvesting and processing flowers quickly and efficiently.

  • Bouquet preparation for market and retail locations.

  • Fertilizing

  • Disease/pest management

  • Mowing/string trimming

  • Washing buckets

  • Dividing Dahlia tubers

  • Occasional fill-in for pop-up markets, on-farm events, and the Farmer’s Market.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in a greenhouse or on a farm is strongly preferred but not required. Work experience in a fast-paced work environment that requires multi-tasking, such as a restaurant or team-oriented job, is helpful.

  • A hard-working, energetic person who works quickly and efficiently.

  • Able to work 8+ hrs on your feet in all weather conditions.

  • High attention to detail and quality and must be able to take direct performance feedback.

  • Physically fit and able to perform demanding and repetitive farm tasks (bending, squatting, lifting, kneeling, standing on a daily basis). You must be able to lift items up to 50 lbs. We do not sit to plant, harvest, or for bed cultivation.

  • A positive team-oriented attitude is required.

  • You must have a valid driver's license and have the ability to work without your cell phone. Individuals must be punctual and reliable. Call-offs and tardiness are not tolerated.

Schedule:

The schedule will vary weekly and seasonally, but full work days and some Saturdays are required. Additional hours may be required during the Spring and Fall and the week of Mother’s Day. The daily schedule is weather-dependent, so flexibility is required. Shifts are generally 8 hours long and include a 30-minute lunch break. The typical start time is 7 am, but it varies with the weather and time of year.

Compensation:

Salary is based on previous experience and employee performance. Employees are paid bi-weekly via direct deposit. Employees are given a uniform allowance as well as discounted farm products.
